OMG AN UPDATE!

i apologize… working 70+ hours per week = no blogging

but i did scrounge up some time this evening to post some photos from back in february when new york fashion week came to the restaurant. i would name the restaurant that i work at, but we employ a person whose sole purpose is to find blogs that mention the restaurant’s name and then forward it to our owners. hence, i will continue to refer to my place of work as “the restaurant”.

so, back to the fashion week story. we put on an entire runway show in 24 hours – from casting to catering to furniture moving to guest lists and press. the designer was victor de souza and the collection was amazing. the entire experience was like project runway and americas next top model all rolled into one and 10,000 times more stressful.

This Is How We Graduate

I realize it has been over a month since I graduated college and over two months since I last blogged.

What’s New?

Well, I am now living in my awesome new apartment in Brooklyn. I love it and I love my roommates. I need to dedicate an entire post to this apartment one day.

I have had many guests come and go: Sister, Mom, Grandparents, Jon, Michelle and Kevin (twice).

I am still expecting more guests before the end of the summer: Sister, Julie and Kevin (permanently).

As for myself, I just got back from a quick visit home and I am headed to Vegas for one last youthful hurrah at the end of the month. JetBlue has really been good to me over the past 6 months. On my flight to California last week I decided to count how many flights I have been on in the last year:

30 Flights

Now most of that is because of my 4 months spent trapsing around europe, but a lot of it has been back and forth between the east and west coasts as well.

Back to the main focus of this entry: graduation. Graduating at yankee stadium with all of nyu was like nothing I had ever imagined. I have never been more proud to be an nyu student. Pictures to explain what my words cannot:

hillary clinton on the jumbotron

pizza to the face DURING the ceremony

yankee stadium packed with purple

west 4th and university closed down for grad alley

baccalaureate at radio city music hall

Elegance Cropped

It really is amazing how much cropping an image can really change it. Previously ignored random moments become kodak moments. Last weekend was Elegance on the Water, so here it is… cropped.

I wish I could crop images for a living…

Note: Some photos obviously taken by Dave

Tonight’s song: Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie … thanks kevin

Computer Poetry + Math = Nerd

Random post of random fun things.

computer poetry. these guys in my digital media class gave a presentation on computer artificial intelligence. they showed us this book called the policeman’s beard is half constructed, which was entirely written by a computer. here is an excerpt that i really appreciated, a poem on love … by a computer:

At all events my own essays and dissertations about love and its endless pain and perpetual pleasure will be known and understood by all of you who read this and talk or sing or chant about it to your worried friends or nervous enemies. Love is the question and the subject of this essay. We will commence with a question: does steak love lettuce? This quesion is implacably hard and inevitably difficult to answer. Here is a question: does an electron love a proton, or does it love a neutron? Here is a question: does a man love a woman or, to be specific and to be precise, does Bill love Diane? The interesting and critical response to this question is: no! He is obsessed and infatuated with her. He is loony and crazy about her. That is not the love of steak and lettuce, of electron and proton and neutron. This dissertation will show that the love of a man and a woman is not the love of steak and lettuce. Love is interesting to me and fascinating to you but it is painful to Bill and Diane. That is love!

perfect. i love it.

new math. redblackbrown is a blog i follow religiously because it is a group of designers who post some pretty cool things. a couple days ago they posted about craig damrauer’s new math series. i am obsessed. here are my favorites:

i don’t have anything to write about. candace next week! hooray! oh and i updated my calendar on this blog.

A Little Bit In Love….

“Hands down. I’m too proud for love. But with eyes shut, it’s you I’m thinking of. I think I’m a little bit, a little bit in love with you… but only if you’re a little bit, a little bit in love with me. “

Swedish singer Lykke Li is my current obsession. Her song “Little Bit” has been remixed so many times now, but somehow I always come across one I like even more than the previous.

Some tracks:

Little Bit (Original)

Little Bit (Death to the Throne Remix) even better.

Little Bit (Villains vs. Drake Remix) the best. completely turns it into a club hit. drake’s addition to the end of the song really flows well. his part comes in around 3:50 and the chorus they do together at 4:50 tickles me. haha.

You can judge me all you want for liking electronic, but hey, i just like to dance.

In other news… school has suddenly become too much. Senioritis is not helping either. Applying for jobs is scary. But pictures are fun….
